Strategic Plan:

The Strategic Plan for the Russell County School District was drafted by a committee with input from representatives of administration, faculty, students, parents, the school board, and the community at large. The purpose of this plan is to provide a framework for the direction and activities of the School District for the next five years. Strategic planning is the means by which an organization continually recreates itself toward extraordinary purpose. Therefore, the goals and objectives contained in this plan should be reviewed, refined, and reevaluated on an annual basis.

Research for the strategic plan for the Russell County School District was conducted through organized “brain-storming” sessions in which both primary and secondary sources provided written objectives of the needs of the school district.  The initial work on the strategic plan was completed by direct input from the faculty of each school. A committee comprised of representatives from the community (teachers, parents, students, board members, business representatives and local government officials) provided additional input in the development of goals and objectives.  Sub-groups comprised of local school administrators and central office administration further refined the list of goals and objectives.  Final responses were tallied in each of the ten sub-categories and the most frequent responses are included within the body of this document.
