Location:
Russell County is situated on the Alabama/Georgia border amid rolling
plains and woodlands. This progressive, growing county offers the serene
atmosphere and friendly folks of a rural area but also includes thriving
Phenix City. The amenities of a larger city are available in Columbus,
Georgia which is across the Chattahoochee River.
Booming agricultural, timber, and paper industries are cornerstones of
Russell County’s rapidly expanding industrial base. The local chamber of
commerce actively recruits industry to the area. Fort Benning, a major
U.S. Army training post, is adjacent to Columbus.
Higher
education and major college sports are available a few miles away at
Auburn University. The area is also served by Chattahoochee Valley
Community College, Troy State University at Phenix City, and Columbus
State University.
